About me

With a decade of experience in education, I've transitioned to become an online reading tutor. I firmly believe that working closely with students in a one-on-one setting is the most effective approach to foster literacy and learning skills.

Through direct interaction with students, I witness firsthand their progress and find immense fulfillment in cultivating a passion for reading and learning that extends beyond our tutoring sessions.

My Experience

Resource Specialist

Monterey Peninsula Unified School District
Monterey, California, USA
2019 - 2022

As a resource specialist program teacher, I collaborated with other educators, parents, and specialists to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans for students with special needs. I assessed students' strengths and weaknesses, established specific learning goals, and designed appropriate strategies and accommodations to support their learning. Teaching a wide grade band from kindergarten to 6th grade provided me with the opportunity to help students develop foundational learning skills. Additionally, I regularly monitor students' progress that inform my instructional strategies.

Master of Arts in Education,
Reading and Language Arts

California State University, Fresno
Fresno, California, USA
2022

Completing my Masters of Arts in Education, with a focus on Reading and Language Arts, provided me with essential understanding and expertise in language and literacy development. Through my studies, I explored various reading and language theories, innovative literacy instruction methods, effective integration of technology, and research techniques. As a result, I have evolved as an educator, adept at designing meaningful learning experiences that enhance my students' language and literacy skills.

Special Education Teacher

Bridges Foundation
Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines
2017 - 2019

Working with diverse learners in a small class setting provided me with the opportunity to delve into various crucial aspects of a child's development, including cognitive, language and communication, and social-emotional domains. With a smaller number of students, I was able to offer personalized attention and support, tailoring my teaching methods to accommodate their unique needs and learning styles. Moreover, the close-knit environment allowed for meaningful collaboration with families, forming a strong team dedicated to fostering the child's overall development. By working hand-in-hand with parents and caregivers, we were able to establish effective strategies, share insights, and ensure consistency in supporting the child's growth and progress.

Second Grade Teacher

Bridges Foundation
Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines
2014 - 2017

I gained valuable experience in effective classroom management from being a 2nd-grade teacher in a Catholic private school for boys for 3 years. Each year, I had the opportunity to teach approximately 36 students. Given the large number of students, it was of utmost importance to maintain excellent organization skills to ensure accurate tracking of each student's progress. Additionally, I contributed in the development of a comprehensive English and Language Arts curriculum for 2nd grade.

Bachelor of Science
Child Development and Education,
Major in Special Education

Miriam College
Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines
2014

Completing a bachelor's degree in Child Development and Education with a Major in Special Education has equipped me with essential knowledge in child psychology, development, and the unique needs of children with disabilities. This foundation empowers me as a teacher to create inclusive and engaging learning environments, tailored to each student's individual strengths and challenges. The experience has instilled in me a deep commitment to fostering the academic growth and success of every child, regardless of their challenges.
